"Great group! Lots of fun!"
"I enjoy the company of this group"
"I had a great time. I met new people that felt like old friends, and I was really glad I went. I feel bad that I didn't get a chance to meet or talk to anybody on the other side of the table, but maybe next time!"
"We had a lot of fun. We hear Yuka (2nd and 80th) is a great all you can eat sushi place. Maybe that could be a consideration for next time."
"glad we went; i like the 'beyond sushi' vibe; it's the kind of group you wanna drag friends to."
"Great group of folks for sure! "
After joining a couple of sushi groups that fizzled out, I decided to be pro-active and start one. Sometimes these things take a while to get going. However, I see there are a lot of people who love sushi and Japanese food in general so I'm confident it won't take long.
You get what you put into it. I pledge to schedule meetups, pay the monthly bill, and be as accommodating as possible if you pledge to curteously show-up when you RSVP "Yes," be your charming-self, pay your fair-share of the meal, give us your input and above all - have fun!
New RSVP Policy:
* You can specify "Yes" or "Maybe":
- If you say "Maybe," you MUST change it to "Yes" or "No" 24 hrs BEFORE the event.
- After which, I will remove ALL "Maybe's."
- This way, you can grab a seat if you were shut out.
* 3 strikes-you're-out:
- 1st time: You will get an email asking, "What's up?"
- 2nd time: You will get an email asking if you want to be a member.
- 3rd time: You will be removed without an email.
* For hard-to-get reservations or those that impose a charge:
- I'll send an email requesting your phone number.
- I'll call you the evening before (or day of) for confirmation.
- No responses or call backs will be cancelled.
Not only is it disappointing when people who RSVP'ed "Yes" not show up, it is unfair to those who were closed out. Additionally, sometimes a restaurant will give us price breaks or accommodations based on the number of people we promise them so the attendees may literally pay the price for your oversight.
I'm looking forward to seeing my Meetup friends and making new ones!
